Karachi: The city recorded the hottest day of the year today, with the mercury touching 40.6 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in the city remained hot and dry on Saturday. After the sea breezes stopped and the warm desert north-easterly winds of Balochistan started to blow for some time during the day.
According to the forecast of the Early Warning Center of the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature of the city was 40.6 degrees Celsius while the humidity in the air was only 26%. Due to low humidity ratio, the heat was not felt much.
The current heat wave in the city is likely to persist till Tuesday. Temperatures may exceed 41 degrees on Sunday and Monday. Meanwhile, between morning and afternoon, sea breezes may remain inactive for a short time, north-easterly winds of Balochistan will continue to affect the city.
According to the Early Warning Center, South Sindh is also likely to have hot and dry weather. Other districts including Hyderabad, Badin and Thatta may record temperatures between 39 and 41 degrees.
