Islamabad: The Chief Justice of Pakistan asked during the hearing of the case that the Supreme Court will get a share from the live streaming income of the court proceedings. This caused laughter in the courtroom.
During the hearing, Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa explained the reason for not showing the live broadcast of Faizabad dharna review case and said that we wanted to have live streaming of this case. This is a very important case. We are running the practice and procedure case for live streaming as a pilot project. A 2-member committee has been formed regarding live streaming, which is currently working, and will look into the matter after the committee reports.
The Attorney General said that the live streaming of court proceedings is seen more than the Pakistan-India cricket match, on which the Chief Justice of Pakistan remarked with a smile, whether the Supreme Court will also get a share of the revenue from live streaming. Laughter erupted in the courtroom.
During the hearing, when Tehreek-e-Insaf’s lawyer Ali Zafar said that he wanted to withdraw the revision application, the Chief Justice of Pakistan asked the PTI lawyer, “Do you really want to withdraw the application?”
Ali Zafar answered yes, then the Chief Justice smilingly asked the PTI lawyer that I am asking for the third time under Sharia principles, do you really want to withdraw the revision petition? The PTI lawyer replied to me. Instructions are not to defend revisions.
