Lahore: In the case of distortion and unauthorized publication in the translation of the Quran, the court summoned the caretaker prime minister.
A hearing was held in the High Court on a petition against distortion in the translation of the Holy Quran and printing without the permission of the Quran Board, in which the court summoned the Caretaker Prime Minister and Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab in a personal capacity for the next hearing.
Justice Shujaat Ali Khan remarked during the hearing that this is not the case of any one but the case of all of us. The court expressed its displeasure over the non-submission of the report by the federal government on the requests of Muhammad Hassan Muawiya and others and remarked that the federal government has not submitted the report for 8 months. The court remarked, “Have you come here for a walk?” We call the chief executive across the country.
During the hearing, the lawyer of the federal government sought time to submit the report, on which the court remarked that it seems you have come here for a visit and the matter has not been placed before the caretaker prime minister.
The court directed that the caretaker prime minister appear himself and clarify his position. The court ordered caretaker prime minister and attorney general to appear on October 16. During the hearing, Additional IG Punjab Prince Sultan stated that our jurisdiction is very limited. On which the court remarked that everyone knows how much you are acting on your jurisdiction.
The court also expressed strong displeasure at DPO Chanyot and remarked that the IG should send the DPO to a course. The court also summoned caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi for the next hearing.
It should be noted that the petitioners have challenged the distortion in the translation of the Holy Quran and the move to print without the permission of the Quran Board and not to remove insulting content from social media.
