Lahore: No new team will be added in the ninth edition of Pakistan Super League and this league will be played with six teams.
Pakistan Super League Governing Council meeting was held on Monday at National Cricket Academy Lahore under the chairmanship of Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf in which various important aspects related to Pakistan Super League were discussed.
It was decided in the meeting that no new team will be added in the ninth edition of PSL and this league will be played with six teams. The window for the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League has been set from February 8 to March 24, 2024. The final schedule of PSL will be approved in the next meeting.
In the meeting, it was said that the Pakistan Cricket Board will continue its efforts to find opportunities to organize women’s league or exhibition matches during the HBLPSL.
It was decided in the meeting that in view of any unusual situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board will keep in touch with the franchises regarding the alternate venues of the league under the contingency plan.
In the meeting, tributes were paid to Alamgir Tareen, the former owner of Multan Sultans. On this occasion, Zaka Ashraf said that his services to cricket were invaluable and will always be remembered. The meeting also reviewed the tender process for digital and media rights of HBLPCL 9 and other commercial matters.
The report of the previous event of PSL was also presented in the meeting. On this occasion, the representatives of the franchises were briefed about the success of the 8th edition, on which the franchisees were congratulated for successfully organizing the league at all four venues of the league. B appreciated the efforts of government agencies and all stakeholders.
