The Punjab government has banned the use of Avastin after it was allegedly seen by patients due to injection.
In the meeting presided over by caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, ophthalmologist doctors gave a detailed briefing on the incident of some people’s vision being affected by Oyston injection. In the meeting, preventive measures and remedial measures against conjunctivitis outbreak were also reviewed.
Later, Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi said in an ‘X’ message that important decisions have been taken in a meeting with health department officials and ophthalmologists on the issue of blindness due to Oyston.

According to Mohsin Naqvi, in the meeting, it has been decided to take immediate action against the drug inspectors responsible for the availability of non-sterilized injection and to ban the use of said injection for the treatment of eye diseases until the quality report is received.

The Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab says that the people suffering from blindness due to injection will be given free treatment, while it has also been decided to form a high-powered committee to investigate the matter. The police have also been ordered to arrest the responsible elements.
