Karachi: An alleged robber was killed in a police encounter in Landhi while another was arrested with injuries.
According to the Landhi Police, the accused were looting from citizens near Landhi No. 4 early in the morning when the police reached the spot. On seeing the police, the accused started firing indiscriminately and started running away.
After the exchange of firing from both sides, the police killed one robber while the other was arrested in an injured state. Weapons, 9 mobile phones, 3 purses, 2 school bags, cash and a stolen motorcycle were recovered from the possession of the accused. He was identified as Somar son of Ilyas and the injured accused as Rashid son of Ramadan who have been shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
According to SHO Landhi Farrukh Hashmi, the dacoits who were killed and injured in the encounter were involved in robbing parents who were leaving their children to school early in the morning.
The SHO said that the accused had also robbed a young man who was going for an interview early in the morning and snatched his bag and escaped, while incidents of snatching purses from women were also involved.
According to the police, the previous criminal record of the dacoits arrested in dead and injured condition is being checked, while legal proceedings have been initiated.
