There are shortcomings in the new NAB law which the Chief Justice is looking at

Islamabad: Supreme Court Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandyal says that there are shortcomings in the new NAB law which he is looking into.

In the Supreme Court, a hearing was held on the bail application of Nawab Khan, accused of Rs 23 crore corruption. Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial said in his remarks that there are some shortcomings in the new NAB law which we are seeing.

The Chief Justice inquired whether it is not written in the new NAB law where the cases are to be sent. There is corruption of only 23 crore rupees and not 50 crore. Are the cases out of NAB’s jurisdiction over?

The NAB prosecutor told the court that NAB is not withdrawing the cases, the courts are returning the cases. After the new NAB law, the case of corruption of 23 crore rupees went out of the jurisdiction of the NAB. When the case went out of the jurisdiction of the NAB, the application for cancellation of the bail of the accused became ineffective.

Justice Athar Manullah said in his remarks that NAB is also very incompetent here.
