The contempt of court petition against the Chief Minister of Sindh on the postponement of local body elections was disposed of

Jamaat-e-Islami withdrew the request

Karachi: The Sindh High Court dealt with the withdrawal of the contempt of court petition against the Sindh Chief Minister, Local Government Secretary regarding the possible postponement of local body elections.

A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Ahmad Ali Sheikh held a hearing on the contempt of court petition against the Sindh Chief Minister, Local Government Secretary regarding the possible postponement of local government elections.

Jamaat-e-Islami’s lawyer Usman Farooq advocate stated that the local body elections are over, I want to withdraw the application.

The court disposed of Jamaat-e-Islami’s request for withdrawal.

Making the Election Commission of Pakistan, Chief Minister of Sindh, Minister of Local Government a party to the petition, the position was adopted that the defendants wrote a letter to the Election Commission to stop the elections. Contempt of court action should be taken against Chief Minister Sindh and others for writing the letter.
