Islamabad: Due to monthly fuel adjustment, electricity prices are expected to increase by Rs. 82 paise per unit.
CPPA has submitted a request for increase in electricity prices to Nepra. The request for increase in electricity prices was made in the context of monthly fuel adjustment.
According to the request, 15 billion 47 crore units of electricity were generated last month while the production cost of electricity was 131 billion 11 crore rupees. The most expensive electricity was generated from furnace oil, the production cost of electricity from furnace oil was Rs 33 32 paise per unit.
According to CPPA, 23 rupees 71 paise per unit of electricity generated from LNG. Electricity was imported from Iran at 25 rupees 9 paise per unit while 24 paise per unit of electricity line losses were seen.
The increase in electricity prices will burden the consumers by 131 billion rupees in a month. A hearing will be held in Nepra on September 27 regarding the increase in electricity prices.
