Karachi: The Sindh High Court accepted the appeals against the sentences of 4 accused in the case of kidnapping and murder of a 4-year-old child and declared the sentences null and void.
A two-member bench headed by Justice KK Agha passed judgment on the appeals of 4 accused against the convictions in the case of kidnapping and murder of a 4-year-old child.
The prosecution failed to prove the crime, on which the court accepted the appeals of the four accused. The court annulled the sentences awarded to the accused by the subordinate court.
The court said in the verdict that the accused should be released from jail if they are not wanted in any other case. Among the accused are Abdullah Magsi, Abdul Ghaffar Brohi, Ali Magsi and Zahid Gabol.
The trial court sentenced accused Abdullah Magsi and Abdul Ghaffar to death while accused Ali Magsi and Zahid Gabol were sentenced to life imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, in March 2012, the accused had abducted a 4-year-old child Amar Jatoi from Waleed Mohalla area of Larkana for ransom. The body of the kidnapped child was recovered on March 15, 2012 due to non-payment of ransom.
