New Delhi: A passenger plane skidded off the runway while landing at the Mumbai airport in India and suffered an accident.
According to Indian media, there were 5 passengers and 3 crew members in the business private plane of Canadian Airlines, owned by a real estate firm, which arrived in Mumbai from Andhra Pradesh.
The runway of Mumbai airport was slippery due to rain due to which the plane could not be handled after landing and turned around at an angle of 180 degrees and came off the runway.
After the front part of the plane hit the ground, half of it was destroyed. Both the pilots were seriously injured while the passengers also sustained minor injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital.
There was no loss of life in the accident, but the plane was completely destroyed. After the runway was closed, all flights were diverted to Goa and Ahmedabad.
Aviation further said that the airport has one runway in daily use so flights had to be diverted to other cities.
