Disclosure of bribe deduction from honorarium of Sindh Assembly employees

Karachi: Alleged bribery in payment of honorariums to Sindh Assembly employees has been revealed.

Sources say that on the instructions of Chief Secretary Sindh Fakhar Alam, the Anti-Corruption Department has started two separate inquiries related to the matter and has summoned the Sindh Assembly authorities with details yesterday (September 14).

According to the sources, the Chief Secretary has also rejected the request of Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani to stop the inquiry into giving honorarium to the employees and directed the anti-corruption to continue the investigation.

According to the sources, the Senior Special Secretary of Sindh Assembly, Mohammad Khan Rand, in a letter written to the Chief Secretary on the said matter, had told that the Sindh government had given Rs.

It was stated in the letter that Accountant General Sindh Office had transferred the honorarium to the accounts, however, DDO Habib Samiju allegedly deducted more than 2 crores from the honorarium received by the employees as bribe.

According to Muhammad Khan Rand, around 100 employees complained about the deduction of money as a bribe to the Special Secretary and the higher officials of the Sindh Assembly.

Agha Siraj Durrani, while writing a letter to the Chief Secretary to stop the said inquiry, had also made allegations against the senior officer of his own assembly, Muhammad Khan Rand, however, the Sindh Chief Secretary has ordered the anti-corruption to continue the investigation.

Additionally, the Anti-Corruption Department has started a separate inquiry into the illegality of the employment of Habib Samijo, Additional Secretary of the Sindh Assembly.

In a letter written to the Secretary of the Sindh Assembly, Inspector Zahid Hussain Mirani of the Anti-Corruption Establishment Directorate has said that Additional Secretary Habib Samijo should be directed to appear before him along with the details of his employment and properties.
