Karachi: Renowned religious scholar Maulana Zia-ur-Rehman was killed in firing in Gulistan Johar.
According to Express News, unknown armed motorcyclists shot dead Maulana Ziaur Rahman of Jamia Abu Bakr Islamia in Golestan Johar Block 16 within Shahrah Faisal Police Station.
According to ASP Zafar Changa, Maulana Zia-ur-Rehman was walking in the park in front of the FBR building in Golestan-Johar when he was fired upon, killing him on the spot. Neither mobile phone nor cash was taken from Maulana.
SSP East Irfan Bahadur says that 11 shells have been recovered from the spot, out of which four shells are of 9 mm and seven of 30 bore. CCTV cameras in the vicinity have been identified which will enable identification of target colors.
According to SSP Irfan Bahadur, eyewitnesses say that two motorcycle-riding accused opened fire indiscriminately. Meanwhile, IG Sindh Rafat Mukhtar has taken notice of the incident and sought details from SSP East.
