University of Karachi: Boycott of teaching until the selection board is held and the case against the lecturers is withdrawn

Karachi: Karachi University teachers have announced a boycott of the teaching process from yesterday until the case against the appointment of five lecturers is withdrawn with the approval of the Selection Board.

According to Express News, this was announced in the general body meeting of Karachi University Teachers Association (KUTS). This meeting of the general body was held under the chairmanship of the President of Anjuman Dr. Saleha Rehman.

The teachers’ association boycotted morning and evening teaching from February 14 and demanded the chancellor and chief minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah to appoint him under the recent 2014 advertisement of the Department of Public Information and after the recommendations of the 2019 selection board. Withdraw the appeal to the Supreme Court against the five lecturers.

According to the teachers, the honorable Supreme Court has also upheld the decision of the Sindh High Court of May 2022, but the University of Karachi administration has called the Sindh High Court’s contempt petition “pressure” and suspended its own appointment orders. , which is very sad, these lecturers left their previous permanent jobs after four years of court struggle and became part of University of Karachi only last month.

The meeting passed a unanimous resolution in this regard, in which the full selection board schedule of 2019 advertisement and the withdrawal of the management’s case against the appointment in Shabaa mass media and the immediate release of their January salary were demanded.

It was decided in the meeting that if the demands are not approved by Friday, a press conference will be held to demand the dismissal of Sheikh Al Jamia Dr. Khalid Iraqi and Director of Finance.
