Lahore: Lahore High Court rejected the request of the citizen to seek permission to drink poison as inadmissible.
Justice Raheel Kamran Shaikh issued the order on the request of Sarwar Taj. A resident of Mazang had sought permission from the Lahore High Court to drink poison, on which the court had reserved its decision on the admissibility of the application.
The court had remarked that I think you are playing a stunt for cheap fame, to which the citizen’s stand was that I don’t want any fame, I have faith in Allah and nothing will happen to me.
The court inquired that why do you want to drink poison, the petitioner’s position was that I have knowledge and I will drink poison after reciting Quranic verses and nothing will happen to me. The court remarked how the court could allow someone to drink poison.
Justice Raheel Kamran remarked that I think you are playing some stunt for cheap fame. The petitioner’s stand was that I don’t want any fame, I have faith in Allah and nothing will happen to me.
The court clarified that suicide is forbidden in Islam and you are asking the court for permission to do something forbidden.
The petitioner’s further position was that he wanted to do this experiment in front of everyone at Lahore’s Mochi Gate, so the court should allow it. The court remarked that there are decisions of the Supreme Court of India regarding those who seek death by themselves. Cancer patients in India had approached the Supreme Court to make death easier.
The petitioner’s stand was that I will not die, believe me.
The court assured us that we cannot allow any illegal act, if you have a heart, then do it, then according to the law, the action will be taken against you.
The petitioner further contended that I have also requested the Home Secretary to allow the poisoning experiment at Mochigate. The court remarked that you are wasting court time.
