On the third day of the ongoing “Pakistan Theater Festival” at Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, a program based on traditional Sri Lankan dance, Kanya, was organized by the Sri Lankan Dance Group.
Diplomats of various countries including President Arts Council Ahmed Shah, Consul General of Sri Lanka Jagat Abivarna participated in the program.
Renowned singer Ahsan Bari, Sri Lankan singer Sonal Prabhashita, Pakistani singer Sonia and Muneeb Khan unleashed their vocal magic in Kanya.
Sri Lankan dance troupe Chandana Wickramasinghe Dancers Guild presented a powerful dance on the theme of “Leela Me Leela”, Heritage of Sri Lanka, Traditional Devadasi, Ridham Rata and drumming on Thammattam.
Ahsan Bari gave a joint musical performance with Sri Lankan singer Sonal Prabhashita while Sonal Prabhashita teamed up with Pakistani singer Sonia to steal the show by singing the world famous Pakistani song “Pasuri”.
On this occasion, President Arts Council Ahmed Shah expressed his views and said that today Pakistan Sri Lanka friendship has completed 75 years, we are proud of Pakistan and Sri Lanka friendship, Sri Lankan artists have performed great.
He said that he is grateful to the Consul General of Sri Lanka that he is here, this Sri Lankan dance group will also perform in Islamabad and Lahore.
Ahmed Shah said that the artists of Pakistan and Sri Lanka should perform together so that the culture of both countries can flourish.
Consul General of Sri Lanka Jagat Abiorna said that I am very happy, such a great program was organized in Arts Council Karachi, today we are celebrating Pak Sri Lanka diplomatic relations.
At the end, the Sri Lankan National Anthem was presented, followed by the distribution of souvenirs and awards to the Sri Lankan artists.
