Islamabad: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has agreed to provide relief to electricity consumers with 200 units.
Along with giving relief to electricity consumers who use less units, the IMF also demanded an increase in gas prices and rejected the government’s proposal to give relief to electricity consumers up to 400 units.
The issue of providing relief to consumers on electricity bills was met between Pakistan and IMF officials, in which the International Monetary Fund rejected the proposal to provide relief to consumers of up to 400 units of electricity, however up to 200 units of electricity. User agrees to collect bills from customers in installments.
According to the sources, the final approval to receive bills in installments of consumers using up to 200 units of electricity will be taken from the federal cabinet. This initiative is likely to provide temporary relief to about 4 million electricity consumers, while 32 million consumers could have benefited in the form of relief up to 400 units.
