The accused got entangled in the wires and fell down, on which the citizens tortured him
Karachi: A motorcycle thief jumped from the third floor of a building near Jubilee Cloth Market fearing a beating by the public.
The accused first got stuck in the wires, after which the citizens caught him and beat him up and later handed him over to the police. The police shifted the accused to the hospital for first aid.
According to the police, the motorcycle thief who attempted suicide was identified as 27-year-old Muhammad Zohaib son of Muhammad Zafar, who was staying with his family at Iqbal Plaza on MA Jinnah Road until recently. He moved to Delhi Colony. The accused had started smoking cigarettes some time ago, after that he is addicted to hashish and other drugs and now he is addicted to ice.
The accused also stole a motorcycle from Burns Road area of Arambagh 5 months ago. According to the incident, the plaintiff Rizwan Arif Khan son of Arif Khan told the police that on February 11, 2023, I came to my brother-in-law’s house on a motorcycle and around night. At 8:30, he started waiting for his brother on the footpath while the key was stuck in the motorcycle.
Meanwhile, a boy dressed in a pant shirt came and started the motorcycle and fled towards Jubilee. As I shouted and ran after him, the motorcycle slipped and fell near the Jubilee Milk Shop, after which the young man ran and entered the building and entered a vacant flat on the third floor, from where he jumped down from the balcony.
After jumping, the accused hit the electric wires and fell down and got injured. He was caught and tortured by the people. Later, the police mobile of Nabi Bakhsh police station also reached. The police have recorded the statement of the plaintiff and registered a case under 381-A against the accused Zohaib.
