8 people involved in the protest against the increase in electricity prices were arrested

Karachi: A case of Jamaat-e-Islami’s protest and arson against the increase in electricity prices was registered in Shah Latif police station.

It is stated in the case that the police was engaged in anti-crime operations at the rickshaw stand on the National Highway yesterday when some miscreants started protesting on the call of Jamaat-e-Islami.

The protestors also had sticks, stones and other materials with them, the protestors saw the police mobile coming towards them and pelted stones and set it on fire and also set the motorcycle on fire.

During the commotion of the protesters, the motorcycles of policemen Muhammad Hanif, Waqas and Arsalan Shawkat were set on fire, on which legal action has been initiated.

The police have arrested 8 protestors while raids are going on to arrest more than 45 named protestors.
