Washington: The leader of the far-right group Proud Boys has been sentenced to 18 years in prison and another member of the far-right to 10 years in prison for the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
According to international media reports, the sentence given to the right-wing Proud Boys leader is one of the longest of all capital attack related cases.
Another right-winger was sentenced to 10 years in prison after the accused chanted ‘Trump won’ as he left the court. Both accused were new members of far-right groups convicted of the January 6, 2021 attack on Congress, an attempt to ‘reverse’ Donald Trump’s election defeat.
ProudBoys leader Ethan Nordin’s 18-year sentence for treason is the second-longest sentence since Oathkeepers founder Stuart Rhodes was sentenced to 27 years in prison in May.
