In the absence of monitoring and control, dealers are stockpiling sugar for profit, due to this situation, there is a fear of further increase in the price of sugar in Sindh.
Experts say that the increase in sugar prices due to sugar exports is not correct. In January this year, ECC approved the export of 220 thousand metric tons of sugar.
In the last financial year, the price of sugarcane was set at Rs 300 in Punjab and Rs 302 in Sindh. The average price of sugar in the country in FY 2021-22 was around Rs 87 46 paise.
The price of sugarcane in Punjab was Rs 225 per maund and in Sindh it was Rs 250 per maund.
