Coconut milk is rich in saturated fat, which can raise bad cholesterol levels and be harmful to the heart. But this type of fat is high in calories. Canned coconut milk contains three times more calories than unpasteurized milk.
According to nutritionist Trista Best, the fat content in coconut milk can increase calorie intake.
He said that coconut milk can contribute to weight gain and slow metabolism due to excess fat. Although these fats are mainly saturated, they can affect cardiovascular health.
He said that consuming large amounts of calories can cause weight gain. Moreover, the rich nutrition in coconut milk can increase the consumption of more calories.
Dairy farmers have been demanding for a long time that the label of ‘milk’ should be removed from vegetarian milk as it is not nutritionally equivalent to dairy milk.
It should be noted that several studies have shown that milk substitutes are generally nutritionally deficient in at least one of the three components (ie, protein, calcium, and vitamin D). But the amount of fat and other ingredients can be high.
