Karachi: Wholesale and big markets of the city remained closed on Friday due to shutterdown strike by traders against additional electricity bills, inflation, but small shops at neighborhood level remained open, public transport continued as usual.

Chairman All Karachi Traders Union Atiq Mir said that the traders of Karachi have become a symbol of solidarity on the successful shutterdown strike on Friday, all major and important commercial centers of Karachi remained completely closed.

He said that if the government still does not reduce the electricity bills, the series of strikes and protests may accelerate, the businessmen of Pakistan are also fighting for the rights of the people, the public is also appealed to participate in the struggle of the businessmen.

He said that the artificial trend of increase in the prices of food and beverages must also be stopped, the destructive inflation of the PDM government is continuing even in the caretaker government.

President of Anjuman Tajran Karachi Javed Shams said that the business community showed solidarity to make Friday’s shutterdown strike a success.
