Lahore: The High Court directed the NAB prosecutor to appear before the court with instructions regarding the production of Parvez Elahi.
During the hearing on the application filed against the arrest of Parvez Elahi by NAB, Justice Amjad Rafiq said that you ask when you are presenting Parvez Elahi, to which the NAB prosecutor said that we inform by asking.
Justice Amjad Rafiq remarked that if Parvez Elahi was not produced, tell me whose arrest warrant to issue? Shall I issue the arrest warrant of Director NAB and DG NAB Lahore?
The court said in its remarks that we have to decide now whether the arrest of Pervez Elahi is legal or illegal. The court adjourned the hearing for some time.
Earlier, NAB Lahore decided not to produce former Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi in Lahore High Court and filed an application to refer the application to a two-member bench.
In the petition, it was argued that Pervez Elahi’s petition should be transferred from a single bench to a two-member bench. It was requested that the execution of the orders of the Single Bench to produce Parvez Elahi be stayed.
Justice Amjad Rafiq had ordered to produce Pervaiz Elahi at two o’clock after the request came, but despite this, he was not produced by NAB.
In the rehearing after the break, the lawyer Punjab government said that according to the CTD report, Parvez Elahi’s life is in serious danger, so Parvez Elahi will have to look at many issues before being presented to the court.
The court inquired, whose report is this? You call the CTD officer to the court who has said that there are threats to Parvez Elahi’s life. So how many years will Pervez Elahi be kept in jail to deal with these threats?
Justice Amjad Rafiq remarked that you can present Parvez Elahi in the accountability court, but how did life get threatened here, do you want to talk openly! Do you have any order or any letter that this double bench will hear?
The Prosecutor General said that it is in the decisions of the Supreme Court that a two-member bench can hear NAB cases, a single bench cannot hear NAB cases.
Justice Amjad Rafique directed NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Waqar Naqvi to not kill Madhani in water. How can you say that this matter will go to divisional bench of NAB.
Waqar Naqvi said that the judgment of the Supreme Court is available, on which Justice Amjad Rafiq inquired whether there is any notification etc. If you want me not to hear this case, apply to the Chief Justice.
