Rawalpindi: It has been decided to transfer the government institutions of Punjab to solar system.
While people are worried about the huge increase in electricity bills, government institutions are also facing difficulties. In view of the situation, it has been decided to transfer the buildings and installations of the government institutions of Punjab to solar system.
The meeting was chaired by Chairman PND Iftikhar Sahu, in which several officers participated through video link. It was decided in the meeting that the buildings and installations of 5 Wasa and 19 other institutions of the province will be transferred to solar system. Rawal Filtration Plant at Wasa Rawalpindi will be shifted to 250 KW solar system. 6 crore will be spent on solar conversion of Rawal Filtration Plant.
Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail will be converted to a 2 megawatt solar system at a cost of 50 crores. In this regard, Vasa of Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Multan have been instructed to install solar systems on available sites.
Meanwhile, details of solar system installation projects have been requested from 19 institutions of Punjab. Government institutions will be able to save 60 to 70 percent of monthly electricity bill by going solar system.
