Washington: The US has said that thousands of US troops will remain in the Middle East due to the threat posed by Iran.
Sabrina Singh, deputy press secretary of the US Department of Defense Pentagon, said in a media briefing that the thousands of US troops recently deployed to the Middle East will remain in the region as long as needed.
In response to a question about the reduction of Iranian threats against US troops in Syria or Iraq or against merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the press secretary said, “We have been targeting groups supported by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for the past few weeks.” Harassment of merchant ships is observed from Until the Iranian threat changes, the US military’s stance will not change.
The US sent additional troops and defense equipment to the region earlier this month as part of a previously announced deployment.
