Islamabad: The Anti-Terrorism Court gave a safe decision on Iman Mazari’s request for physical remand, according to which the court approved the 3-day physical remand.

It should be noted that Iman Mazari was re-arrested immediately after being released on bail yesterday, after which he was produced in the Anti-Terrorism Court today, where the case registered against Iman Mazari was heard at Bahara Kahu police station.

During the hearing, on the request of the prosecutor for physical remand, Judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain of the Anti-Terrorism Court reserved the decision.

Prosecutor Raja Naveed, giving arguments, told the court that there is an allegation of collecting money from people and using it for anti-state activities. Iman Mazari should be physically remanded for investigation. The money has to be recovered from the possession of the accused and the co-accused has to be reached.

Lawyer Zainab Janjua told the court that an FIR was registered against Iman Mazari on 26 August 2023. On August 26, Iman Mazari was in jail and her bail plea was to be heard. Government of Pakistan gave NOC to PTM for the rally. When Iman Mazari was released from Adiala Jail, police from Bahara Kahu police station were present there.

Iman Mazari’s lawyer argued that multiple FIRs cannot be registered on one incident. If the court discharges him from the case today, he will be arrested in another case. Iman Mazari is not an official of PTM. Iman Mazari’s bank statement is ready, the phone and laptop are with the police. Why is Iman Mazari’s physical remand necessary?

The lawyer said that Iman Mazari never met the person who filed the FIR and never took money. Iman Mazari should be discharged from the case.

The prosecutor said in the court that giving NOC for the rally does not mean raising anti-state slogans. If the court grants remand, they will collect evidence, to which lawyer Zainab Janjua replied that Iman Mazari is cooperating with the investigation, so there is no need for physical remand. Courts are being used to settle scores. The courts have to look into this matter as well.

Later, the Anti-Terrorism Court reserved its decision on the plea of physical remand, which was later heard by Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain. The court handed over Iman Mazari to the police on 3-day physical remand.
