Jakarta: A teacher at an Indonesian school cut the hair of 14 female students as punishment for not wearing hijab correctly.
According to the World News Agency, the teacher cut the protruding hair in a school in a town in Java, Indonesia, after expressing his anger when hair was seen outside the hijab.
These students were accused of not wearing the scarf properly in school. A cap-like thing is also worn under the scarf to keep the hair off the forehead.
The headmaster of the school explained that the teacher cut the hair of the female students slightly above the forehead or cut some length for which the teacher has apologized to the parents.
The headmaster further said that the girl child is suffering from stress and heartbreak, on which she will also be provided with the help of psychologists.
Note that wearing the hijab is mandatory for female students in Indonesian schools and applies to female students of all religions.
The headscarf issue hit the headlines in 2021 when a Christian student in Sumatra was pressured to wear a hijab.
