Karachi: The police arrested more than 60 leaders and workers of Tehreek-e-Insaaf by cracking down across the city.
PTI Karachi President Khurram Sherzaman had announced a bike rally from Nursery to Mazar-e-Quaid on Sunday to express solidarity with the leadership. The rally started from the nursery near Khudada Chowrangi. When the bike rally reached, the police stopped the workers from going further.
The police dispersed the workers by lathi charge and detained several workers, while other workers reached Mazar-e-Quaid, where the police once again shouted and detained many workers. And the series of eye contact between the police is going on.
The police said that Section 144 was violated and action was taken against it. Many important leaders including Tehreek-e-Insaf Karachi President Khurram Sherzaman did not participate in the rally.
Malir Police detained 12 Tehreek-e-Insaf workers while carrying out operations in Bin Qasim, Quaidabad and Shah Latif. East Zone Police detained 32 PTI workers who took out rallies from the areas of Khudadad Colony, Exhibition, Shahrah Faisal, Karsaz, Gulistan Johar, Jamshed Road, Gulshan Iqbal.
Korangi police have also detained 11 workers of Tehreek-e-Insaf after overnight raids. The Central Police cracked down on Ayesha Manzil, North Karachi, Nazimabad and detained five Tehreek-e-Insaf workers and shifted them to the police station.
