President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce Ahsan Bakhtawari says that it is not possible to do business in the current situation due to inflation.
Ahsan Bakhtawari, while giving a statement on the increase in electricity bills, said that the issue of electricity bills has become a serious situation for business, economy and consumers, the current price of electricity cannot compete with the international market.
He said that the increase in electricity prices after petroleum products has increased the cost of production many times. There are many problems facing the power system, including line losses and theft, which require immediate solutions.
He also said that the people and the business community are on the streets but no attention is being paid to them, the government should immediately initiate revolutionary reforms in the system without any effort.
Ahsan Bakhtavari said that basic changes in the electricity system and the efficiency of discos should be improved.
He said that the political parties and all the stakeholders should make a charter of economy to get the economy out of the quagmire, the value of the dollar should be controlled and long-term policies should be formulated.
Ahsan Bakhtawari said that by making payments to IPPs in dollars instead of rupees, the electricity rates are increasing, as the dollar becomes expensive, electricity will become more expensive and businesses will be closed.
He said that the government should review the contracts with the IPPs, pay them in rupees instead of dollars, withdraw the increase in electricity prices immediately and give relief to the people.
