The incidents of child exploitation, torture and forced labor have increased across Punjab, only the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau has rescued 4,660 children since January this year, including rescuers who are victims of violence and exploitation. The number of children was 42.
According to the details, the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau rescued a total of 4,660 children in the first 8 months of 2023, the most 1005 children were rescued in Lahore, Gujranwala was second with 739 children, while Faisalabad had 683 children. It was third in terms of rescue.
Similarly, 568 children were rescued in Rawalpindi, 570 in Sialkot, 481 in Multan, 195 in Bahawalpur, 373 in Sahiwal and 44 in Rahim Yar Khan.
The Child Protection Bureau delivered more than 4000 children to their parents while the Child Protection Bureau took custody of 42 children who were victims of violence and exploitation this year.
In this regard, Chairperson Child Protection Bureau Sarah Ahmed says that the Child Protection Bureau is providing full protection to children who are victims of violence and exploitation, Rizwana, a young domestic worker who is a victim of violence in Islamabad, is being treated and after recovery. Rizwana will be transferred to the Child Protection Bureau where the girl will be provided with education and training.
He said that the increasing incidents of violence against minors are sad and condemnable, until the accused are punished severely, such incidents will continue.
Sarah Ahmed further said that there are around 1200 children living in various district offices of the Child Protection Bureau, where all the basic facilities are being provided to these children, child protection schools are established for the children, apart from this, the children Basic accommodation and food facilities are being provided, doctors and medical staff are available 24 hours in all offices for medical facilities.
It should be noted that Child Helpline 1121 is established for immediate rescue of children who are victims of violence and exploitation.
