Ashoba Jadeja, who was arrested on the charge of fraud in India, was caught by his teeth for 15 years and was missing after changing his identity.
According to Indian media, the police in Mumbai have arrested a man who had been a fugitive and disappeared for 15 years, changing his identity. Prawan Ashoba Jadeja, 38, was arrested on Saturday.
Ravan Ashoba was identified by the two gold teeth in his mouth after which he was picked up by the police. Even at the time of his arrest, Ashoba, who was wanted in the financial scam, was engaged in fraud by pretending to be an agent of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).
The accused worked as a salesman at a clothing store where he embezzled from his boss in 2007.
According to a Mumbai police officer, the store owner sent him to collect 40,000 Indian rupees from another businessman. Later, after investigation, it was found that the money was not stolen, but was kept by Pravin Ashoba.
The police had arrested him at that time, but a few days after his arrest, he got bail and after being released on bail, instead of appearing in the court, he fled to Mumbai, after which the court declared him a fugitive.
Giving details about the arrest of the accused after he was declared a fugitive from the court, the Mumbai Police said that a few days ago, the police started searching for him again. Meanwhile, Pravin Ashoba’s old colleagues were also questioned.
According to the police, he assumed several guises and names and was identified by three names: Pravin Ashoba Jadeja, Pravin Singh and Pradeep Singh.
It was later learned that Pravin was hiding in Sabharai, a village in Kutch district of Gujarat. Then the police disguised as life insurance agents called Praveen to Mumbai and arrested him after recognizing him by his gold teeth.
