An Iranian court ordered the US to pay $330 million for the 1980 coup.
After the overthrow of Reza Shah Pahlavi’s regime in 1979, a new government was established in Iran.
The court says that in 1980, America tried to overthrow the new government.
According to the report of the Iran News Agency, the former commander of the Iranian Air Force, Eid Mehdeoun, conspired to overthrow the new government.
Several people were killed and hundreds were arrested in clashes between civilians and government forces involved in the overthrow of the government.
Dhadan Takhteh’s plan included control of military bases, strategic centers and residences of Iranian revolutionary figures.
The family of those who died during the 1980 anti-government crackdown had filed a petition in the court last year.
The petitioners maintained that the US had planned the conspiracy and tried to topple the government.
The court accepted the position of the petitioners and ordered the US government to pay 30 million dollars for the alleged damage to the family members and property.
The court also ordered the US government to pay $300 million as punishment for interfering in Iran.
