Karachi: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) management has initiated action against the employees participating in the protest against privatisation.
A show cause notice has been issued to the supervisor involved in the closure of PIA booking office Rawalpindi, the supervisor named Kashif Liaquat belongs to the commercial department of the airline, the show cause notice has been issued under the Essential Services Act and the Industrial Commercial and Employment Standing Order Ordinance.
According to Shokaz, the airline’s image was damaged by closing the main doors of the booking office for customers, chanting slogans against the administration during the protest and other actions damaged the reputation of the organization.
The show-cause notice has asked the supervisor to respond to the allegations leveled against him within a week or else action will be taken against him under the relevant laws.
It should be clear that The protest by the employees over the division of the airline into two parts and non-increase in salaries has been going on for the past 10 days, the unions and associations have announced that the airline booking offices will be closed from 9 to 5 instead of 3 hours from Monday.
