More than 10 commercial theaters in Lahore were sealed for violating the Drama Act.
Caretaker Information Minister Punjab Aamir Mir has said that a new history of indecency was being made in the name of plays in commercial theatres, theater owners and producers violated the rules despite repeated warnings.
Aamir Mir said that orders have been issued to keep theaters sealed till the implementation of new rules, commercial theaters have been sealed for violating the Drama Act. The effort is to bring the theaters back to their original form.
The caretaker provincial minister further said that the Punjab government is introducing necessary amendments in the Drama Act, the sealed theaters of Lahore will remain closed until the necessary amendments are made in the Drama Act.
He said that theaters in other cities of Punjab will remain open, but they will be monitored, in case of complaints, they can also be banned.
