Karachi: Parents who do not vaccinate their children will now face a one-month jail term and a fine of Rs 50,000, Sindh Governor signed the Sindh Immunization and Epidemic Control Act.
According to Express News, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori has approved the Sindh Immunization and Epidemics Control Bill 2023, the purpose of this bill is to enable the prevention of epidemic diseases in the province through immunization, vaccination, scientific and social means and methods. .
According to the bill, the concerned Deputy Commissioner will be authorized to impose imprisonment up to one month or fine up to fifty thousand rupees or both under sub-section (1) of parents or guardians who do not get children vaccinated.
Under the bill, propaganda against immunization and vaccination will also be punishable with a fine of up to one lakh rupees or imprisonment up to 6 months or both.
According to the Bill, Sindh Immunization Registry will also be established and birth certificate will not be issued without registration of vaccination in the registry.
