Foreign nationals will be required to pay water, electricity and traffic fines before leaving Kuwait.
In a meeting between the Ministry of Interior, Communications, Justice and Transport officials of Kuwait, discussions were held to oblige foreigners to pay utility bills and traffic fines.
Kuwait’s Interior Ministry confirmed last week that foreign nationals will have to pay traffic fines before leaving the country for any reason.
After this announcement, the Ministry of Water and Electricity has also confirmed that all foreign nationals will pay their water and electricity bill before leaving Kuwait.
An online platform has been developed for this purpose where bills can be paid.
Also, a customer service office has been set up at Terminal 4 of Kuwait International Airport where bills can be paid.
The law will come into effect on September 1. Kuwaiti ministries have been linked with passport control authorities at the airport to ensure the implementation of the law.
In the next phase, this system will also be introduced on land and sea routes to oblige foreigners leaving the country to pay bills.
