Sutlej river overflowed, dozens of villages were submerged and thousands of people were evacuated

Lahore: The Sutlej River overflowed, inundating dozens of villages and rendering thousands homeless.

Due to flood relay, many large settlements, dozens of settlements and mouzas of Punjab were submerged while Mouza Bhattian and Qadir Bakhsh dams were broken. Thousands of people were forced to evacuate the flooded communities.

The flood relief camps set up in the affected areas of Borewala lack facilities and the people displaced by the floods are suffering. Meanwhile, the young man was swept away in the flash flood at Norrath Dam in Qubola area. There is severe food shortage in Bahawalnagar too.

In Bahawalnagar district, there is a high level of flooding at Head Sulaimanki, where several temporary barrages and roads have been breached and land routes to more than 80 villages have been cut off. Dozens of settlements have been engulfed in floods and water is being seen all around.

Thousands of acres of crops and properties were destroyed in Bahawalnagar. Flood water entered residential tents and houses, forcing a large number of victims to live under the open sky. Normal life has been disrupted due to school and power outages.

According to DGP DMA, the total number of flood affected villages in Sutlej has reached 583.
