California: Technology company Meta’s sub-platform WhatsApp is soon going to introduce advanced text formatting for users.
Text formatting is a common way to clearly convey the meaning of your message. But this feature is not always available in our messenger app. By the way, WhatsApp already has basic text formats like bold, italic and strikethrough which can be accessed by long pressing the screen on iPhone and Android. But according to a report by WhatsApp Beta Info, the messaging application is soon going to introduce syntax-based formatting for quotes and bulleted lists.
This formatting option isn’t a new option, apps like Slack and Google Chat have Syntext with a formatting bar. WhatsApp also supports Syntax for basic formatting.
As per this image from WhatsApp beta info, quotes should start with < while bullet lists should start with –. Users will also be able to write a text in a 'code block' and for this they need to use an apostrophe at the beginning and end of the text.
The company is currently testing this feature but no final announcement has been made regarding its rollout to users.
