Islamabad: The request to dismiss the civil judge in the Rizwana torture case was approved for hearing.

The High Court accepted for hearing the petition filed to dismiss civil judge Asim Hafeez, the husband of the accused Soumya Asim, from his job in the case of violence against the young domestic worker Rizwana. The court issued a notice to the federal government and the Advocate General’s Office and sought their assistance.

Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Amir Farooq heard the civil society’s request and summoned Deputy Attorney General Ahsan Raza and the State Council to the rostrum. The Chief Justice remarked that the matter of the civil judge is on the administrative side, but we will see it on the judicial side as well. We have received a detailed request in this regard.

The Chief Justice remarked that the Federation should look into violence against children and child labour. During the hearing, the Chief Justice referring to the Tayyaba torture case, said that earlier, many incidents including the Tayyaba torture case have come to light. We are notifying the Federation and the Advocate General’s Office on this request, on which the State Council asked to provide us with a copy of the request so that we can prepare the notice.

It should be noted that this application has been filed by the President of Civil Society Network Islamabad, Abdullah Malik, while Civil Judge Asim Hafeez’s wife is on judicial remand for torturing Rizwana, a minor, and Civil Judge Asim Hafeez has been sent to Lahore. High Court has made OSD.

The court adjourned the further hearing of the case indefinitely.
