Srinagar: In Occupied Kashmir, brave Kashmiris celebrated the 39th anniversary of Hurriyat leader Shaheed Maqbool Butt by staging a complete shutter-down strike ignoring the threats of the Indian Army.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the 39th death anniversary of Maqbool Butt, the founder of the Hurriyat Jamaat Jammu Kashmir National Liberation Front and the political party Jammu Kashmir Front, was celebrated with reverence and respect.
Maqbool Butt was hanged in India on February 11, 1984 for his libertarianism and Kashmir’s freedom struggle. The Indian Army had thought that the execution would end the freedom struggle of Kashmiris, but today it has become more active.
All Hurriyat parties had announced shutter-down strike across the valley on the death anniversary of Maqbool Butt, on which Indian army and police threatened to face dire consequences if shops and transport were closed.
Disregarding the cowardly actions and threats of the Indian Army, the zealous Kashmiris staged a complete shutter-down strike and posters of the martyred leader were displayed everywhere.
Hurriyat leaders paid tribute to Shaheed Maqbool Butt in memorial gatherings.
