Beijing: A coal mine in China’s Shaanxi province collapsed after a horrific explosion that buried 11 people under the debris.
According to the World News Agency, there was an explosion in the mine in the northern province of Shanxi in China when more than 90 miners were working underground in the mine.
The cause of the explosion could not be determined yet. During rescue operations, 7 bodies were recovered from the wreckage, while 2 died during treatment at the hospital.
More than 10 miners were taken to the hospital for medical treatment and their condition is said to be out of danger while the rest of the injured were released after being bandaged.
Officials say that precautions were not taken in the construction of the mine while effective arrangements were not made to protect the miners in case of an accident.
Accidents in mines and factories are common in China, killing more than 2,000 annually.
