Washington: A popular diabetes drug with recently discovered obesity-reducing properties is now approved for nearly 100 million Americans.

In this way, millions of people can reduce their obesity and thus potentially prevent 1.5 million heart attacks, strokes and other heart diseases that are obviously caused by obesity over the next ten years. One name of this drug is Vigovi.

In this regard, the Phase III (human) clinical trial has been conducted on 1961 people. All of them were clinically obese and were given 2.4 mg of semaglutide, another name for Vigovi, every week. A research report in this regard has been published in a scientific journal.

Interestingly, the US Food and Drug Authority (FDA) has already approved this drug for obesity. Medical experts have observed that regular use of the drug can reduce weight by 15%. On the other hand, it reduces many factors that cause heart diseases and also keeps blood pressure normal by reducing fats called lipids.

This is an important milestone in reducing obesity and heart disease with just one drug, says Professor Nathan Wong of the University of California, Los Angeles.

Experts insist that as you lose weight and return to normal for age, so do your risks of heart disease, diabetes, and blood pressure. The drug Vigovi works like, but mimics, the GLP-1 hormone. This hormone is released naturally from our intestines when we eat food.

Be it America or Pakistan, obesity has become a dire public health crisis. A reduction in obesity not only improves the quality of life but also reduces the burden of disease.
