Karachi: As soon as the new IG Sindh assumed office, during 2 major robbery incidents in the city, unknown armed suspects managed to escape easily after robbing the petrol pump staff of more than 10 million rupees in broad daylight.
The robbery incidents took place in Orangi Town Nishan Hyder Chowk and Site Area Metroville.
As soon as the new IG Sindh Raja Rafat Mukhtar assumed office, during two major robbery incidents in the city, unknown armed suspects managed to escape easily after robbing the petrol pump staff of more than one crore 10 lakh rupees in broad daylight.
The first incident took place near Orangi Town Nishan Hyder Chowk Kiran Shadi Hall in Pakistan Bazar Thane area, where 2 unknown armed suspects escaped in broad daylight after robbing Rs 30 lakh from the petrol pump manager Parvez and 2 cashiers.
In this regard, SHO Pakistan Bazar Suhail Khaskheli told Express that the manager of Mahi Petrol Pump located at Orangi Town Islam Chowk Parveza and 2 cashiers were riding in a silver ring car and were going to deposit the money in the bank. The accused snatched the bag full of money at gunpoint and fled.
He said that while escaping, the armed accused also opened fire which hit the bonnet of the petrol pump cashier and staff car.
He further said that the police reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported and the crime scene unit was immediately called to the spot and the evidence is being collected while trying to get the footage from the CCTV cameras installed nearby.
The SHO said that the cashier and staff of the petrol pump had around 28 lakh rupees which have been looted.
Meanwhile, the owner and cashier of a petrol pump in Metrovale area of Site A police station were going to deposit 80 lakh rupees in the bank when armed robbers who were present in front of the bank snatched a bag full of money from the bank owner and cashier and ran away.
On receiving the information about the incident, SSP Kemari Faizan Ali and other police officers reached the spot and started investigating the incident.
SSP Kemari said that the owner of Total Petrol Pump located in the limits of Pirabad police station used to deposit his daily income in a private bank as usual. When they reached the front, there were already 2 unknown suspects outside the bank, who snatched the bag full of money at gunpoint and fled.
He said that there were security guards outside the bank but they did not resist and this is also being looked into.
He said that the police have obtained the CCTV footage from the bank, which suggests that the staff of the petrol pump is involved in the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
The police have also detained some people and the mobile phone numbers of the petrol pump staff have also been obtained and some staff have left the petrol pump for ten days a week, their names and phone numbers have also been obtained so that the CDR can know that Who was in contact with whom?
He said that the robbers knew at what time the money would be deposited in the bank and that is why they were already there, there is a lot of suspicion on which further investigation is being done and efforts are being made to identify the suspects involved in the incident in the next 48 hours. They should not be traced and arrested.
