Karachi: Rejecting PDM’s proposal not to participate in the by-elections, Pakistan People’s Party submitted nomination papers of its representatives in Lahore and Karachi constituencies.
According to Express News, Pakistan People’s Party has submitted the nomination papers of its candidates from Lahore and Karachi, ignoring PDM’s proposal not to contest the by-election.
PPP has fielded candidates in the National Assembly constituencies of Lahore, while the election campaign has also started.
In Lahore constituencies, PPP has issued tickets to Aurangzeb Barki, Ahmed Jawad, Farooq Rana and Amjad Jat, while in Karachi, other candidates including Shehla Raza have submitted their nomination papers for the by-election.
It should be noted that PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had suggested the government alliance not to contest the by-election, on which the Prime Minister had also given him the task of persuading PP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
On the other hand, Awami National Party, which is part of the government coalition, has also submitted nomination papers for the seats of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while MQM is also contesting the by-elections in the vacant constituencies from Karachi.
