Durban: Kieran Forbes, one of South Africa’s most popular rappers, was killed in an attack before entering a nightclub.
According to the international news agency, Kiernan Forbes, 35 years old, the most popular South African rapper known as AKA, arrived for a performance at a birthday party at a night club on the coast of Durban.
Kiernan Forbes was about to enter a nightclub after parking his car with his friend when a foot assailant opened fire on them, killing Forbes and his friend on the spot.
After the shooting, the assailant fled on foot, in search of whom the police have launched a raid, but no arrests have been made so far. The motive of the murder has not been determined yet.
Kiernan Forbes’ parents paid tribute to their son in a post on their social media account and wrote that Kiernan Forbes was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to us and most importantly to his beloved daughter Cairo. The father was
Forbes started his music career with the rap group Entity and quickly rose to fame. He received multiple nominations for the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Award in the US and the MTV Europe Music Award.
Keep in mind that South Africa’s murder rate is the highest in the world and shooting incidents are common. The charity Gun Free, which works to reduce gun violence in South Africa, has estimated that 30 people are killed every day in the country. People are killed in shooting incidents.
