Martin Griffiths, the head of the United Nations aid program, will visit the affected areas this week to assess the damage caused by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, speaking to reporters in New York, said that Martin Griffiths, the head of the United Nations Aid Program, will visit Ghazi Antap in Turkey and Aleppo and Damascus in Syria.
Martin Griffiths will assess the immediate relief and needs in the earthquake affected areas.
Antonio Guterres said that there is a need to do everything possible to save people from dying in earthquake-hit areas and to send more aid to rebel-held areas in Syria.
He said that the total death toll from Monday’s earthquake in Turkey and Syria has exceeded 19,000.
