The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says that Pakistan is facing serious threats from climate change.
This has been stated in the IMF report which has been submitted to the Planning Commission.
According to the IMF report, Pakistan lost 30 billion dollars due to floods last year, 10.9 billion dollars of aid was promised at the Geneva Donors Conference, but Pakistan received a very small part of the international aid.
In the report, the IMF says that social unrest and political tension increased in Pakistan while the standard of living of the people deteriorated.
In this regard, the authorities of the Planning Commission say that projects worth 4 to 5 billion dollars are ready, awaiting funding, 16.8 billion dollars are required for reconstruction, housing, agriculture and transport have been prioritized.
The IMF has been assured to prepare a National Adaptation Plan by the end of 2024.
The document states that Pakistan is among the 10 countries most affected by climate change.
