Yangon: Myanmar’s military government launched a raid on Sagaing, a stronghold of its opponents, killing more than a dozen insurgents and injuring many others.

According to the international news organization, opposition to the military government established since February 2021 is increasing day by day, which the military government is using force to crush.

In Sagaing, the army launched a massive crackdown on supporters of ousted ruler Aung San Suu Kyi, who is currently being held captive, killing 14 protesters, witnesses said.

The military government launched an operation in Sagaing against the “People’s Defense Force” (PDF) militia, which is waging an armed struggle against martial law and controls a large swath of the country’s border.

A senior military source told AFP on condition of anonymity that in recent days, fighting has continued in the Kachin, Karen and Kia states, as well as in the Sagang and Magway regions.

Two men from Son Chong village in Sagaing, a stronghold of resistance to junta rule, told AFP that the army had killed 14 people in an early morning raid.

Two villagers further said that the army had come to arrest PDF commanders during which 14 people including 6 militants of the armed group were killed in the clash.

It should be remembered that the military government has executed more than 6 of its opposition leaders, while in two years more than 3,000 protesters have been killed and more than 5,000 are captives.
