Peshawar: In the last 48 hours in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 9 people died and 7 were injured as a result of accidents due to heavy rains and landslides.
According to the PDMA report, 67 houses were partially damaged and 7 houses were completely damaged due to floods and rains across the province. 39 houses in Lower Chitral and 19 in Upper Chitral were partially damaged due to flood.
According to the spokesperson of the relief department, Secretary Relief Abdul Basit visited the emergency center of PDMA. Secretary Relief issued instructions to all Deputy Commissioners to immediately pay relief checks to the relatives of those injured and killed in the rains in the province.
Secretary Relief Department Abdul Basit said that on the instructions of the provincial government, 60 million rupees were released for rain and flood affected districts, while 2 million rupees were released for Chitral Upper and 2 million rupees for Chitral Lower. One crore each was released for Bannu and Shangla.
According to the spokesperson of the Relief Department, District Antamiya, PDMA, Rescue 1122, Civil Defense, District Antamiya and related institutions are on alert. Relief materials have been provided to the affected families in Upper Chitral, a detailed assessment of the damage will begin as soon as the flood waters recede in Lower Chitral and vulnerable communities in Lower Chitral have already been shifted to safer places.
According to PDMA, food items (dry ration) were provided to the affected families.
According to Secretary Relief Department Abdul Basit, the Relief Department has imposed emergency in Upper and Lower Chitral affected by heavy rains on the request of Deputy Commissioner Upper and Lower Chitral. The emergency will be implemented till August 15, 2023.
PDMA had issued a letter to all concerned institutions and district administration on July 17 and 19. In the post, instructions were issued to take precautionary measures regarding rains, flash floods, urban flooding and flooding in rivers.
